Dip Pen for my wife.

This is one of my first attempts in working with an old dip pen.

I thought it would flow better. I must be doing something wrong

Maybe my nib is old?? or bad ink? I need to talk to a calligrapher

and get more information. With that said, it turned out nicely.

These are my tools....kind of fun!!! I like this medium. I want to do more......

Hand Sketch............with my own hands

One of my honest desires is to learn how to draw like a master.

Not to copy exactly what I see, but to know how to design and

compose the visual elements to be beautiful. As for now .....

I have to live with my limited knowledge and experience.

Pirate charcoal.

Still learning the charcoal stuff, among other things.........

This is for sale on etsy:

Just wanted to post somthing.

Fun pencil sketches. (from an old movie book)

I am trying to learn how to use charcoal.

I think the white should be used more delicately/sparingly?

Pirate Season

9x12 This was to figure out color and placement. J W Waterhouse was my inspiration for approach. I am not a master like him.

Sculpting is Fun!!!!

I have been taking an Ecorche class from Nikki Covington. I am sculpting all of the bones and muscles of the body. It is a blast, I love learning.

The tail and round foot will change after evolution happens.

Necklaces

I love leather, and I love marbles. So I decided to

combine them and make something useful.

I sell these on Etsy at http://www.etsy.com/shop/HawsArt

It is fun to be creative not only in oil paint.

Check it out and maybe buy one?????

Business Card

I have been wanting to do a business card for a while. I started with a pencil drawing....

then I painted it in oils.

I was going for something fun to capture peoples attention. I hope it works.

PS (The colors in real life look so much better.)

This is for sale on etsy:https://www.etsy.com/listing/188874117/original-art-print-oil-painting-print?ref=shop_home_active_14

I get oil painting withdrawals. This happens usually when I can't paint for a few days. In these moments I paint something just for myself, like this face. I grab a tube of paint that either I hate or that I have never used. (I have a small case of paints that were given to me.) In this case Manganese Violet was chosen. (PS. I hate purple tubes of paint!) I think it is the challenge of painting with something that I wouldn't normally choose. I should have used more purple paint.

Exploring ideas for my BFA

These were fun, and I liked painting them. 8x10 oils.

This was inspired by a photo that doesn't look anything like this.

This one is from a black and white movie book.

Making up my own color is a challenge I enjoy.

I wish the photos were better with color. I should get a scanner!

Ship Designs

There were a lot more than these designs. I only included the better ones.

Sketchbook

These are straight out of the sketchbook. Pen and Pencil.

I like the tree the most.

Profile practice.

Happy whimper snapper.

Geometric Forms

I have learned so much from trying to draw simple forms.

I am understanding depth better. And forcing myself to push

and pull the form.

Kings and Queens

I just looked at my past blog posts and saw lots of improvement. I still wish I was much better. Some of the portraits are so bad. Oh well. I will be better tomorrow.
